Directors

Michael Schmidt is the Coordinator of Officials for the Division I America East Conference and The Patriot League, as well as the Division III Coordinator of Officials for the Empire 8, State University of New York, Skyline, Liberty League, MAC Freedom and Commonwealth, United East Conferences, and NJCAA Region 3. Over his 22-year tenure, Mike officiated Division I women’s basketball for the ACC, American, Big East, Atlantic-10, Colonial, MAAC, MAC, Patriot, IVY, and Northeast Conferences  Mike worked 18 conference championships and ten years of NCAA tournament games.  A graduate of SUNY Oswego, Mike earned his master’s degree from Syracuse University and his Advanced Certificate in Administration from SUNY Cortland. Mike recently retired as the Chief Operating Officer for the Rochester City School District.  Mike is a member of the John Maxwell Leadership Team, trained in professional speaking and coaching.

Maggie Tieman is currently an NCAA Division I women's basketball and FIBA certified basketball official.  Prior to officiating, Maggie taught physical and health education in Connecticut and coached field hockey, basketball, and softball. A graduate of the University of Vermont, Maggie has her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University and a Doctorate in Psychology with a specialization in sport and performance psychology. She is a certified nutrition specialist, NSCA-CSCS strength and conditioning coach, and the coordinator of Division I field hockey for the America East and Division III field hockey officials for the Empire 8, State Universities of New York, and the Centennial conferences. Maggie is the founder and owner of Mindset Matters, a sport and performance consulting business, that works with organizations and individuals to reach their highest abilities both professionally and personally. In 2021, Maggie was inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. 

 

Maggie has been selected to work the NCAA tournament since 2013; having most recently worked the Sweet Sixteen round in 2023.  Conference tournament experience includes the Big Ten, Big East, American, Mid-American, Atlantic-10, Metro Atlantic, America East, IVY, Patriot, and Northeast Conferences; working the championships in the Mid-American, Atlantic-10, America East, Patriot League, and IVY League.
